Jim’s Diary – 12th May
We have just over a month to go before the opening night of Big Dick Whittington. I’ve done it as much as I can to the script and will not alter anymore until the first day of rehearsals which is on the 8th of June in a community centre in Wimborne. The cast are all booked. I believe the girls are staying in a holiday camp nearby for the rehearsal period and the seven-performance run…somewhere to go for a party great. I am putting the boat alongside in Pool from the 1st of June and then annoyingly must move her on the 11th of June because my morning has been pre let to somebody else for that weekend. I put her back alongside the evening of the 14th.
The boat is still down in Plymouth. I went to see her yesterday and the inside of her looked like a skip. There are two great big holes in the hull ready for the mechanism that drives these stabilisers. It was quite sad to see her in such a state but the people there tell me she’ll be ready for the 28th. She should have been ready for the 16th, so I smell a rat and drove 195 miles to Plymouth to see the boat and then drive 195 miles back.
I hope she launches in time because I want to be alongside in Poole on the 1st of June.
There are so many jigsaw puzzle pieces that must fall into place for me now.
I hope the costumes all fit the cost and we have picked the right ones and not forgotten any scenes. I have a niggling feeling I’ve not got enough fairy costumes and not enough rat costumes. It’s a strange thing to lose sleep over
The music must be done and ready for the first day of rehearsals. This is being recorded by Alan Rogers my old musical director and Adam van Ryn an old producer friend of mine.
I have two more gigs to do before the panto, Kings Lynn and Cromer. They are both what one would call easy gigs to do with great audiences.
It is the 12th of May and I’m back in the studios today to record this week to take time to scribble a few notes in my diary
Natasha’s daughter had a lovely baby boy at the fighting weight of 7 lbs four ounces.
Olivia, Natasha’s daughter has a partner whose father is Greek so whatever they named the little boy he’s going to be worth a fortune in Scrabble.
My mate Dave Franks is feeling unwell and is awaiting test from the hospital fingers crossed
